Dear Holy Rosary Academy Families and Friends,
What a wonderful opening week of school. I thank the dedicated faculty and staff of HRA for welcoming the students with a spotless campus and classrooms, the parents for patiently learning the HRA drop-off and pick-up system, and the children of HRA for bringing their warmth and smiles to the campus. The week was truly a peaceful and harmonious transition for all. Thanks be to God!
School began with our Monday assembly. Thank you to all the parents who joined their children to say our morning prayers, say the Pledge of Allegiance, and sing the Star Spangled Banner, the Alaska Flag Song, and the school fight song. All parents and friends of HRA are encouraged to join us every Monday morning to thank our God and our country for sustaining us. Thank you to senior, Michael Tappel, for leading the prayers and singing, and the third and fourth graders for holding the American and Alaskan flags each week. Thank you especially to Reagan Biegel and the fifth grade for seeing that both flags go up the flagpole each morning and come safely down at the end of the school day. We take such pride in encouraging outstanding citizenry in our students!
Thank you to Fr. Augustine O.P. for leading us in a lovely opening mass. The students’ behavior and singing from K-12 was beautiful to behold. We invite parents and HRA friends to join us this coming Tuesday, August 28th for another all-school mass in St. Dominic’s at 10:10 A.M. Mass times will be posted each week on the online calendar. We are so blessed to have the Dominicans of Holy Family Cathedral as our chaplains!
Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped with the enjoyable field trip to Thunderbird Falls this Friday. Remember to fill out your share hour forms and submit them. Share hour forms can be picked up and deposited in the files beside the Kolbe building bulletin board. Miss Shanstrom, our new Business Manager, will log in your hours and include the tally on your monthly balance sheet each month.
Next week promises to be a busy one as well. Please be sure to attend the Parent Association Meeting this Tuesday night at 6:30 P.M. in St. Dominic’s Hall. I will give the State of the School Address, passwords to be able to access your child’s grades and assignments will be handed out, and raffle tickets will be ready for you to pick up. The teachers will be introduced and will wait to meet and greet with you after the meeting. We are committed to keeping it as close to an hour as we can. Babysitting will be available.
Starting this coming week, After School Care will be open to families in the kindergarten room. Supervision begins at 3:30 P.M. and lasts until 6 P.M. Thank you for your patience. We have had to make adjustments for Mrs. Shaut until she returns. Information on the program and costs can be picked up in the office.
Have a blessed weekend. I look forward to seeing you around campus!
Miss Catherine Neumayr, Principal
