Dear HRA Family and Friends,
I am just checking in to update you on what I know. I do know that Reagan was able to eat his first small meal on Thursday evening. From what I understand, he was scheduled to leave the hospital today, Saturday, so that he can recover at home. My students and alumni have been visiting Reagan and bring back news of his continued improvement. I was especially relieved to know that his sense of humor is returning rapidly. God bless and keep you on the path to recovery, Reagan! Thank you to the many ambassadors of HRA who went to visit Reagan in the hospital!
I wanted to say a note of thanks to the many HRA loyal families who have continued to help during the summer as we prepare for the new year. Thank you especially to the Tobia family for their incredible landscaping and care of the physical plant. Mr. and Mrs. Tobia were here for two days mowing the lawns, weeding, watering the beautiful flowers, and seeing to the upkeep of our school. Do come by for a brief visit to see how beautiful the campus is looking.
I also thank Mr. Jemmings for coming by to help me remove and give away the many extra chairs we had been hoarding on the campus for too many years. Mr. Jemmings and his son, Sam, removed furniture and prepared St. Dominic’s for a professional waxing and buffing that the floors in there have long needed. Thank you very much, Mr. Jemmings.
Mrs. Cook also did a beautiful job of neatening up our uniform store. It is neat and orderly and easy to find the items parents need. All are welcome to come to “shop” in the uniform store to see if there are items available to avoid needing to order from Dennis Uniforms online. We will give you a key to go shopping and trust you to let us know what you have selected. The cost for the uniforms is minimal and we are happy to keep the cost low. Thank you, Mrs. Cook!
I am delighted to announce my new Parent Association team for the 2013-14 year. Mrs. Lisa Cookson has generously agreed to be our President. Rosa Salazar (Sanchez) will be our Vice President. Jennifer Dooc will be our Secretary, and the tireless, Karin Owens, will be Treasurer. Thank you, ladies, for making yourselves available to assist families, especially new families, as they transition into the school and for all the help you afford me. May you be abundantly blessed for your involvement.
I want to be sure to mention Mr. Gonzales and his family as well as Mr. Patton for all of their furniture moving, and painting of the rental apartments in the past month. Mr. Thompson also heroically painted nearly every fence on the campus inside and outside. You will note a much improved look to our fences thanks to his tireless efforts!
I especially enjoyed the Summer Book Club this week. Nine students and Mrs. Schirda joined me for a thorough discussion of the futuristic and truly prophetic novel, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. I enjoyed the insight and questions the students brought to the discussion and the wisdom Mrs. Schirda shared! I do hope that many of you students will consider joining Mrs. Schirda for the next Summer Book Club meeting this Tuesday, July 16th to discuss The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. It is a riveting story of the age old battle between the rich and the poor seen through the eyes of young teenagers. All HRA students and their friends are welcome to join us!
If anyone is interested in helping me as I establish a business office in the Bosco Building, Mrs. Rosa Salazar and I will be working on it Monday at 1:00 P.M. and on Tuesday starting at 10:00 A.M. We need some muscle to help us move desks, file cabinets, and tables.
We continue to have a steady stream of new students and parents join the HRA family. I look forward to introducing them to you in August. Keep in mind that we will have an Open House on August 7th from 6-9 P.M. if you know of any interested families.
God bless you and keep you safe. Please pray for Chip Chennault’s and Pam Field’s recovery from cancer and for Mr. Stephen Vrabel’s recovery from a stroke. Your prayers are so important!
Miss Neumayr, Principal
