Dear Holy Rosary Academy Family and Friends,
It is a pleasure to welcome you back to this weekly blog and to school. I do hope that all of you enjoyed the time to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. It is said that Catholics really know how to party. They prepare for the party for forty days of Lent and then celebrate the Resurrection for FIFTY DAYS! He has Risen! He has indeed!
Well, though we have been on vacation many of been busily preparing the school for our Open House on April 24th from 6-9 P.M. and for graduation on May 16th from 1:30-3:10. I extend a huge thank you to licensed electrician, Mr. Stephen Manuel, his brother, Mr. Alex Goorchenko, and Mr. John Tobia for painstakingly putting up new lights and coverings in St. Dominic’s. You will all certainly notice a difference when you enter. This is a project that has been ten years in the waiting! It looks fantastic! Thank you gentleman! I also thank the donors who helped this project take place.
The track team met at the Dome to compete in their first race of the season. The relay team comprised of Samantha Kalarchik, Victoria Zipay, Karina Ramos, and Anne-Marie Droege came in second place in their heat. Justin Klump ran the furthest, completing 3200 meters at a commendable pace. The team will be competing again this coming weekend. Stop by the Dome to cheer them on. Go Knights!
The juniors and seniors have been working diligently to prepare their thesis presentations for this coming Thursday and Friday. All are welcome to observe. The juniors will present on Thursday and Friday in St. Dominic’s Hall from 1-3 P.M. The seniors will present to the faculty, students, AND a panel of distinguished guests. This exercise marks the culmination of their immersion in the Trivium: grammar, logic, and rhetoric. They will read their papers and then field questions from the audience. The theological or philosophical question each student authored has demanded months of study and reflection. The students have been composing their papers using the method St. Thomas Aquinas used in his Summa. With the help of their faculty advisers, the students have been busily revising and practicing their papers in preparation for their presentations. Please consider joining us for this demonstration. The faculty and administration will treat the seniors to dinner at Fiori di Italia directly following their presentation.
