Elementary students embark on the first stage of the Trivium by learning the grammar of every subject such as the multiplication tables in math, the scale in music and phonics in reading. The history & science curriculum sequence provides the basic content of their studies in many subjects. Elementary school students begin to study of Latin by third grade and Greek by the fifth grade to supplement their acquisition of language and strengthen their grasp of the parts of speech and diagramming the sentences. Reading, writing, and arithmetic lay the foundation and form the building blocks for the junior high school transition.
